Iraq is making progress to normality.  A Thai-American Muay Thai kickboxer told me today that the Iraqis make good kickboxers, and the Iraqi team recently came here to Thailand to compete.  But he said the Iraqis were simultaneously the worst losers, and worst winners he had ever seen: 2 golds for Iraq in World Muay Thai Championship.

The following article from Deborah Haynes is worth reading.  Ms. Haynes is a very courageous journalist who digs into the war.  She used to roll into all the messy spots, and she probably still does.  Very tough.  I think her body armor weighs more than she does.  When talking with her, you’d likely never guess she is a serious war correspondent.  Ms. Haynes is always worth reading:

General Ray Odierno: we may miss Iraq deadline to halt al-Qaeda terror

The activities of al-Qaeda in two of Iraq’s most troubled cities could keep US combat troops engaged beyond the June 30 deadline for their withdrawal, the top US commander in the country has warned.
