ISAF Joint Command morning operational update: 30 October 2012

South

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban weapons and IED facilitator in Kandahar province today. The arrested facilitator is suspected of smuggling weapons throughout Kandahar province and acquiring homemade explosive and other IED-making materials for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

Afghan and coalition forces confirmed today the arrest of a Taliban leader in Kandahar province Monday. The arrested leader is believed to have assisted in inspecting and relocating IEDs within western Kandahar province.

Afghan and coalition forces confirmed today the arrest of a Taliban leader in Helmand province Wednesday. The arrested leader is alleged to have supported the insurgency by facilitating weapons to Taliban fighters while coordinating and executing ambush and IED attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

East

An Afghan and coalition force detained a number of insurgents during a security operation in search of a Haqqani leader in Logar province today. The Haqqani leader is believed responsible for coordinating and executing IED and small-arms fire attacks targeting Afghan and coalition forces throughout northern Logar province.
